Community Development Company of Nesting
Newsletter No 7, December 2019 [DOWNLOAD HERE]
Everything is moving ahead fast down at the Aald Skül: the building work is nearly finished, we’ll soon be opening the gym, we're moving forward with our next two projects, and our website is up and running.
Building work:
All building works are nearly complete; both buildings are at the decorating and finishing-joinery stage, only requiring another couple of weeks’ work in the New Year to finish them off. We'll be having a public opening of these refurbished buildings as soon as we can manage.
Next projects:
We will be progressing two projects during 2020: childcare, hosted at the Nesting Methodist Chapel, and a new multi-purpose shed at the back of the Aald Skül. These projects will greatly add to the amenities of Nesting. We’ll soon be adding much more detail about these projects on to our website.
Development Officer:
Due to personal reasons our Development Officer, Laura Saunders, has had to leave us; we are now employing Ellis Keith, who has stepped down as Vice Chairman and as a director. He has gained a great deal of experience while volunteering as a director and knows CDCN's business well.
Gym:
Very soon our new gym will be opening, which is situated in the hut buildings down at the Aald Skül. It’ll have equipment for both strength training and cardio workouts; you can read more about it on our website. Memberships are very keenly priced and members can come and go as they wish 24 hours a day.
Website:
CDCN is delighted to now have its own website. This was professionally created by NB Communications; they did a great job—we’re really proud of it. They also did some branding for CDCN, hence the new logo, which was inspired by the Skellister standing stone. Please visit our website at https://www.cdcn.co.uk and be sure to study all the interesting Nesting Local History Group material that’s hosted on there.
Other news:
The Scrap-store is now being run primarily by Linda and Vic—they've got the place better as ever, but please keep those donations coming in, and please do come along and snap up those bargains.
CDCN had its first AGM on Monday 16th December. All directors were reinstated (Ellis had already resigned) and Vic Thomas was welcomed as a director and accepted the rôle of Vice Chairman. The minutes of the AGM can be found on our website.
CDCN is in need of another director—this is a great chance to become involved in shaping the future of this area; please do consider this opportunity, and e-mail Ellis at: developmentofficer@aaldskul.co.uk or phone him on 01595 890 288
We will issue another newsletter in a few months’ time if all goes well.
