Community Development Company of Nesting

NEWSLETTER : JUNE 2020 [DOWNLOAD HERE]

Welcome to this month's newsletter which is designed to keep you up to date with
local information and support regarding the Covid-19 outbreak.
CDCN has been successful in securing £7,500 grant funding from the Scottish
Government via Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) to support the community.
Using some of this fund we are circulating this newsletter to each household in the
community with details of what we intend to provide.
If you feel you would benefit from any of these services please contact CDCN
representatives - Ellis Keith 890288 developmentofficer@aaldskul.co.uk, or
Dougie Stevenson on 890223 dstevenson@malakofflimited.co.uk.

  • Support to the volunteer delivery of essential food/groceries/medications in the Nesting Area.
  • Supporting isolated families and residents with social distancing compliant digital solutions to assist with home
  • working, home schooling and virtual social interaction (including adaptations to Aald Skül to offer new service)
  • Support the delivery of wellbeing activities in the Nesting community.
NESTING 'GROW & TELL'
Working in partnership with other community
organisations in the Nesting area, CDCN would like to
encourage wellbeing activities to encourage some
community interaction over the summer including
photo sharing online. Our latest activity is a community
growing competition. CDCN will distribute grow bags,
mini propagators and seeds, to folk in the community,
particularly those with children. Lets see who can grow
vegetables / flowers over the summer
If you would like to take part and see how GREEN your
fingers are please contact Dougie on 890223 and we
will deliver the grow pack to you. All you have to do is
take some photographs as you go, and have FUN. We
will provide all the ingredients and an information
leaflet to help you on your way.

KEEPING YOU CONNECTED
With everyone home schooling, home working, and trying
to keep connected with friends and family we understand
that this can put a strain on family dynamics due to lack of
work space, internet connection and availability of
computers, tablets and devices.
CDCN now have a number of IT resources and facilities
that we can offer and make available.
We have invested in two 4G enabled
tablets that can be loaned out to
community members who are struggling
with a lack of appropriate devices. This is
free of charge and if this something that
you think will help out please get in
touch.
The Aald Skül Building has recently been
converted into offices with internet
access and wi-fi enabled printing
capabilities. In order to support our community this facility will be
made available at no charge to local residents
during these challenging times. Bookings
can be made by contacting CDCN.
Your time slot will be exclusive to you to
ensure social distancing, with cleaning
of equipment and surfaces between use.

If you feel that you could benefit from any of the above, please get in touch with Dougie or Ellis. We
know this is an uncertain time for all of us and we want to support our community as much as possible.
